Sunday School News

Dear Parents, Boys, Girls, and Youth,

Welcome back to the world of back-packs and all the wonderful tools of learning that go inside the packs.  No matter what grade you’re entering, it’s new, exciting, and challenging.  That’s exactly what we here at First United Methodist Church want to share with all our children this year.

This will all start on Rally Day which is Sunday, September 9, 2012.  The teachers all look forward to seeing all our kids back again and hopefully a lot of new faces.  We’ve instilled a rewards program or an incentive program that we think will be both fun and encouraging for you kids.  Two of them will be attendance and bringing a friend.  The hallway will have a big bright chart showing weekly attendance and bringing a friend so you can see what a great job each of you is doing.  Moms and Dads, we need your help with this to ensure they come each week and encourage friends to come as well.  There will be other incentives with rewards but we are keeping some things a secret.  You’ll just have to come out and see what great things the Lord has waiting for all of us.
I will tell you we have wonderful teachers to cover all ages this year.  The following is our list with ages and location of their room.
Monica Wilhelm and Debi Livezey in the Youth Room, Pre-K & K, ages 3-5.

Bonnie Burris in the Choir Room, grades 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Jeff Wilhelm in the Lounge, grades 4th, 5th, and 6th.

Rydene Stevenson in the Craft Room, grades 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th.
The nursery is still operating and fully equip for those babies and toddlers that would like to be there during Worship Service.  We have responsible adults who are excited to be active with your little one during that time.
New curriculum has been researched for each age level and properly selected for what we feel will be most beneficial but fun for your child.  The Lord wants us to have fun while we learn about Him and so we shall!  The senior youth have something totally new hot off the presses this year called, “Line”.  You won’t want to miss these “hot topics”.
As you see from the list, all classrooms are upstairs this year close to the sanctuary.  Parents, please feel free at anytime to ask any of the teachers any questions or concerns you might have.  We take each of your child’s spiritual education as a deep commitment both to our Lord and to you!
Sunday School is during the 9:00 am Contemporary Service. The children are dismissed from the service for Sunday School after the Children's Time.

I look forward to a new year and fruitful year with each of you.  So get revved up, ask a friend to join you and come on out on Sunday, September 9, 2012 for singing, talking, snacking, laughing, and fellowship with Jesus.

In Christian Love,

Rydene Stevenson
Officer of Education
