June 20, 2020
Hello fellow FHUMC members,
It has been over three months since our last service actually took place “in” our church. Some have been attending our services via ZOOM during the red and yellow phases of the Covid 19 pandemic. Thank goodness for technology that allows us to continue to worship. We send a HUGE thank you to JoAnn Minter for putting together our Zoom services in such a creative way.
Our state officials have indicated that Bucks County is currently set to move into the green phase beginning June 26th. Our service on June 28th (transition Sunday) will continue to be a ZOOM service with Ernie Kelly delivering the message. This will be at 10:00 AM, as all of our prior ZOOM services have been.
On July 5th Pastor Gary Dimovitz will begin his appointment at Fairless UMC and leadership has decided, that this would be a good time to start having Sunday services back in the Sanctuary. The services will also be on Zoom live at 10:00 AM for those who cannot actually come to church. After a couple of services, leadership will assess and determine if we are able to socially distance properly in the smaller space downstairs in fellowship hall for the duration of the summer.
A reopening of in person worship services will begin with a July 5th service in the sanctuary. The following CDC guidelines will be implemented and must be followed to ensure everyone’s safety.
A. There will be one service at 10:00 am each Sunday.
(This is to be temporary so that individuals who are unable to attend can continue to watch live on Zoom as usual. Leadership will revisit this at a later date.)
B. Using the hand sanitation stations at both entrances will be mandatory.
C. You will be required to wear a face mask.
D. You will need to maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet between households. No hugs or handshakes please. (We’ll get there. This is only the beginning. Our goal is to keep our church family safe and healthy.)
E. Communion will be given using pre-packaged communion wafer/juice cups. These will be placed on a table to be picked up by each individual before the service.
F. Offering plates will be placed in the front of the church and also in the back of the church. For “special” offerings, a colorful bucket will be placed in the front and back as well. These will be clearly marked for the purpose.
G. There will be NO SINGING!
It will be exciting to be back together again!
Please continue to stay safe and well.
